Macro-Business Matchmaking Forum in Toronto

207 Canadian buyers and 156 Colombian exporters are meeting at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto to showcase products in agri-business, services, garments and manufactured products.

With 156 Colombian exporters and 207 Canadian buyers, the International Macro-Business Matchmaking Forum began in Canada this is a commercial encounter organized by PROCOLOMBIA intended to include other investment and tourism activities to take the most advantage of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, in force since last August 15. 

" More than 2,500 business appointments are expected to take place during the event. But we won' t leave it at that," said Maria Claudia Lacouture, President of PROCOLOMBIA Colombia. " We had an investment seminar with over 200 investors interested in Colombia, and we are going to hold another one on tourism with 120 wholesalers and tour operators from Canada and, in addition, we are active at Loblaws supermarket, showcasing the wealth of our country through our flowers," she added.

Similarly, 26 domestic companies in the sectors of agribusiness, manufacturing and apparel will be in Toronto to conduct a series of key visits to know how and what they must do to export their products successfully to Canada. In addition, 16 exporters from the animation and video games sector will be part of a technical mission including a visit to important Canadian companies like Ubisoft Studies, and will attend the International Game Summit, to be held in Montreal.

During the macro business matchmaking forum, to end on Friday, October 28, Colombians will offer products from the agri-business sector such as palm oils and fats, sugars, syrups and sweeteners, cocoa and coffee byproducts, processed fruits, prepared foods, snacks, confectionery and aquaculture sector products.

In manufactured articles, there will an offering in provisioning articles and equipment, auto parts, containers and packaging and building materials. Colombians will also offer leather goods, apparel, garments and services, digital content and software. 

" We are covering all the sectors that have an opportunity in Canada. In addition, we have a group of 21 small businesses that are now learning, in practical form, about the market, getting to know the clients directly and the way business is being conducted," said Lacouture.

This Canadian Business Matchmaking Forum is the third one organized by PROCOLOMBIA in 2011, after the encounters in Brazil and Mexico during the months of August and September.
