Kimberly-Clark Opens Research Facilities in Colombia

Colombia’s favorable cost structure, strategic geographical location, and qualified labor hosts Kimberly-Clark’s expansion of networks with Global Innovation Centers opening in Colombia, first facility of its kind in the region.

Kimberly-Clark is expanding its network of Global Innovation Centers opening research facilities in Colombia. With its new Global Innovation Center in Bogota, Kimberly-Clark seeks to stay competitive in a fast-changing environment developing products using locals and regional insights to meet broader consumer needs around the world.

For nearly 140 years in the business, Kimberly-Clark has delivered essentials for a better life with some of the world&rsquo s most recognized brands, such as Kleenex, Scott, Huggies, Pull-Ups, and Kotex holding the No. 1 or No. 2 share position globally in more than 80 countries. Nearly a quarter of the world&rsquo s population in more than 150 countries relies on K-C to enhance their health, hygiene, and well-being.

Kimberly-Clark currently has five manufacturing plants in Colombia that cover all product sectors. According to Cindy Panning, Kimberly-Clark&rsquo s vice president of Product Development, " Colombia offers us access to a thriving, diverse talent base with keen insights into developing markets and how to succeed in them, as well as a favorable cost structure. The Global Innovation Center will also benefit from strong support from the Colombian government, which is focused on development in the hygiene sector.&rdquo  

As the first facility of its kind in the region, the Colombia expansion site will join a global network that includes Kimberly-Clark&rsquo s North American facilities in Neenah, Wisconsin and Roswell, Georgia as well as the Innovation Center of Asia in Seoul, Korea.

The Innovation Center in Colombia will provide opportunities for talented employees to collaborate in global-scale product development with their counterparts.
