
Four charter flights from the City of Guatemala to Armenia, in the Sub 20 soccer World Cup, have been sold in just a few days, given the expectation generated among Guatemalans the fact that their selection will play for the first time in a world cup.
This has been confirmed by the Colombian delegation, led by PROCOLOMBIA, which traveled from this country to communicate the tourism offer of the country, given the Fifa Sub 20 World Cup to be held from July 29th and August 20th.
Armenia will be the headquarters of the Guatemalan soccer team, which will play its first game in the capital city of Quindí o on July 31st with Nigeria.
The Colombian delegation met with tourism wholesalers and airlines to become an integral part of the packages that will be offered to those who would like to visit Colombia during the World Cup. They also met with various media groups.
Likewise, a meeting was held with Marí a Fernanda Linares, chief of the Guatemalan Tourism Institute Promotion Department (Departamento de Promoció n del Instituto Guatemalteco de Turismo - INGUAT), in order to establish alliances to benefit both countries, not only during the world cup, but also in the upcoming years.
PROCOLOMBIA&rsquo s visit to Guatemala was focused on communicating the tourism opportunities that the Coffee Triangle has to offer, which is renowned for its deeply rooted coffee culture in the country, and its welcoming peoples.
They were informed that this zone is considered the first rural destination in Latin America, as farmworkers conditioned their haciendas and traditional big houses for tourism accommodation, where it is now possible to live the experience of a farm and coffee growing.
They also socialized all the ecotourism, nature, bird sighting, thermal baths and theme park plans offered for the entire family, such as Parque Nacional del Café and Panaca.
Promotional Visit in Central America
The tourism promotion visit led by PROCOLOMBIA with 14 tourism operators and promotion entities in Barranquilla, Bogotá , Cali, Cartagena, Manizales and Medellí n started last Monday, May 23rd, in Mexico.
There, the Colombian Ambassador José Gabriel Ortiz, opened the workshop, highlighting the evolution of the country in the past years, which have allowed it to become a world-class tourism destination, ready to receive Mexican tourists, not only during the World Cup, but anytime in the year.
In the City of Mexico, emphasis was made on promoting Medellí n, as the capital city of Antioquia will be the headquarters of the Mexican team which will play with Argentina next July 29th.
The promotion will continue in Costa Rica and Panamá . Next week, tourism wholesalers in Ecuador, Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina will be visited.
