At a stand twice the size of 2011' s, Colombia will promote itself as a meeting tourism destination at IMEX 2012, a fair in which important decision-makers from around the world participate.
Supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, the Tourism Promotion Fund and PROCOLOMBIA, 13 Colombian companies and bureaus will be present at a 141 square meter stand from May 22 to 24 in Messe Frankfurt, Germany, an exhibition center to which five thousand visitors from 90 countries will visit, who will be able to sample the best Colombian coffee and Club Colombia beer.
Its purpose will be to obtain new international events to take place in Colombia. Therefore, they will have business meetings with international representatives from tourism operators, hotel chains, airlines, service providers, event organizers and associations.
Participating are Medellin Conventions and Visitors Bureau, Bogota Convention Bureau, Cartagena de Indias Convention & Visitors Bureau, Colombia 57 Tours, Contactos DMC, DIFE Travel Colombia SAS, Gema Tours, Kontour, Promotora Neptuno, Cali Pacific Region Convention & Visitors Bureau, Vitramar, Aviatur and Avianca.
The Colombian participation coincides with Colombia' s recent rise in the world ranking as a meeting destination. In the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the country went from 34th place in 2010 to 32nd in 2011, while in 2006 it placed 50th.
