Experts will show the latest wedding and event trends in Cartagena

The event, which has the support of Proexport Colombia, seeks to consolidate national and international recognition for the city as a destination for weddings and large events.

World renown wedding and event organizers such as Preston Bailey, Marcy Blum, Ira Levy and Darren Olarsch, among others, will meet in Cartagena to discuss and present the latest developments that the industry has to offer regarding organizing, setting the atmosphere and production.

On May 15 and 16, " Wedding and Event Trends 2012" , which will take place at the Santa Clara hotel, will be the stage for expert presenters and event organizers from Colombia, Mexico and Ecuador, among others, to exchange experiences and tools in order to learn about business developments, and the potential and growth of Cartagena as an international destination for weddings and events.

Wedding tourism is one of the sectors that is currently booming in the world. PROCOLOMBIA promotes the country' s potential for the development of this product, as the diverse landscape, between mountains and beaches, is the ideal setting for wedding unions.

In recent years, Cartagena has become the most important point of reference for organizing and staging several of the most high-profile weddings on a national and international level. It has the charm of the tropics and its architecture reflects a colonial past of stories and legends, which evokes romanticism in every one of its corners. This is why it has become a preferred location for this type of celebration.

Furthermore, the city has over 30 years of experience in the meetings industry, with adequate infrastructure in hotel conference rooms and convention centers as well as non-traditional places for events such as theaters, bulwarks, forts, museums, galleons or squares.

" Wedding and Event Trends 2012" , which is on its fourth edition this year, is organized by Hotel Sofitel Santa Clara, Todamiboda, Simone Lejour and with the support of PROCOLOMBIA, Cotelco, Corporación Turismo Cartagena de Indias, Lafla and Karibana.
