During the week of October 2nd to the 9th, 2011, Proexport Colombia will participate in the following national and international events

Genpact arrives in Colombia

1. On Tuesday, October 4th, a press conference will be held to announce the arrival of Genpact to the country with the support of PROCOLOMBIA, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism and Invest in Bogotá . It will take place at the JW Marriot Hotel in Bogota, from 8am. The press conference will be presided by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Sergio Diaz-Granados.


V Competitiveness Forum of the Americas

2. More than 1,000 leaders from 34 countries including heads of state, vice-presidents, ministers, businessmen, academics and officials from multilateral organizations, will participate in the V Competitiveness Forum of the Americas, a venue intended for discussion about improving the competitiveness of the participating countries through the exchange of experiences.
PROCOLOMBIA will be a panelist for the first time, represented by its president, Maria Claudia Lacouture. The meeting will take place between October 5th and 7th at the Renaissance Jaragua Hotel in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) and will discuss topics such as innovation in services, education, renewable energy, business climate and trade facilitation. During the meeting, the American Competitiveness Network (Red Interamericana de Competitividad - RIAC) will be taking place.

Cartagena de Indias will be nominated to host the 20th Annual Cruise Conference & Trade Show in 2013

3. PROCOLOMBIA will attend the Trade Show organized by FCCA (Florida Carribean Cruise Association), the largest event for the cruise line industry in the Caribbean in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to nominate Cartagena to host the 20th Annual Cruise Conference & Trade Show in 2013.
Between October 7th and 10th, more than 100 cruise executives, tour operators and travel agencies will attend the FCCA, which will host a lunch with the president of PROCOLOMBIA, Marí a Claudia Lacouture the First Lady of the Nation, Maria Clemencia Rodriguez de Santos, and Colombia' s consul in Puerto Rico, Alejandro Cobo. Cartagena de Indias will be introduced as the host city for 2013, with the attendance of the CEOs of the major cruise lines in the world, such as Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Lines, MSC Cruises and Carnival Corp., among others.

Colombia: Beyond the Coffee Economy

4. PROCOLOMBIA, in partnership with IE Singapore, will present the stability, economic growth and investment opportunities that currently exist in Colombia to potential investors from Singapore. This seminar will provide detailed explanation of the reasons to invest in Colombia. The meeting will be held this October 4th.

Colombian group of 29 companies will be at Anuga 2011

5. Offering quality frozen products, meats, fine food and hot drinks and bakery, 29 Colombian companies will be present at Anuga 2011 between October 8 and 12, during the largest food fair in the world, taking place in Cologne, Germany.
About 150,000 specialized trade visitors are expected to come. PROCOLOMBIA' s assistance is part of the Support Plan to exporters affected by the ATPDEA, the revaluation and heavy rainfall season.


Fam trip to Cartagena and Cali

6. Two U.S. journalists, representatives from Jax Fax Magazine and Lodging Hospitality Magazine, will visit Cartagena and Cali, to assess the cities' capacity as a corporate destination. The tour will take place between October 3 and 9.


Halcon viajes - Spain fam trip

7. The director of large accounts for Halcon Incentivos Spain, Jorge Baeza, will travel to Cartagena de Indias to get a first hand look at the city' s potential in conducting incentive trips and promoting influential companies in the sector. The tour will take place between October 3 and 9.


Protela Fashion Workshop in Ecuador

8. Over 350 people are expected at Protela' s fashion workshops, supported by PROCOLOMBIA, to be held in the cities of Quito, Cuenca and Guayaquil in Ecuador, to promote garments and related products. The Fashion Workshop will take place between October 4 and 6.


World Routes 2011 in Berlin

9. With support from the Tourism Promotion Fund of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, PROCOLOMBIA will participate with country stand for the first time at the World Routes Fair in Berlin, Germany, which will bring together airlines, airports and tourism authorities, among others. The aim will be to promote tourist destinations as well as seeking new opportunities for connectivity issues, especially in direct air routes to Colombia. The meeting will begin on Sunday October 2.
