Entrepreneurs from 13 Countries to Purchase Colombian Software

The business forum at Softic will have 55 international buyers, brought in by Proexport, looking for solutions for digital marketing and technological security, among other things.

The skill of Colombian software developers and factors such as competitive prices and geographic proximity, were a few reasons for 55 buyers from 13 countries to seek out new suppliers for their companies in Colombia. That is why they have confirmed their participation in the business forum organized by PROCOLOMBIA in Softic 2013 on September 4 and 5, along with 74 Colombian companies at the Hotel Morrison of Bogota.

" They are looking for services that Colombia is already successfully exporting, such as solutions for internal management, for tracking sales forces and equipment, digital marketing, social network administration and technological security," affirmed PROCOLOMBIA president, Maria Claudia Lacouture.

The experience has earned Colombian companies a good name in the international context. So much so that this year, the business forum will have participants from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, United States, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

Participants include oil multinational Pacific Rubiales Peru, the National Penitentiary Institute of Peru (INPE in its Spanish acronym), the Ministry of the Environment of Ecuador and the ICC Group of Spain.

Tony Smith is an expert with extensive experience in software production and commercialization who was invited by PROCOLOMBIA and the Canadian Executive Service Organization (CESO) to serve as a consultant for companies in Armenia, Manizales and Pereira. He pointed out that quality and cost are the factors that draw the most attention to Colombia' s supply abroad.

" It can also outmatch other companies in service. For instance, we share the same time zone with Canada, which makes processes easy, and we have similar cultures, which makes work more efficient. If there is a problem with the service, it is easier to solve," said Smith.

PROCOLOMBIA has found that Colombia' s potential can be tapped mainly in the Americas, in sectors such as e-government and finance. " There is also a demand for packaged software, which is widely accepted in Peru and Central American countries," said Maria Claudia Lacouture, President of PROCOLOMBIA Colombia.

This is the tenth Softic event, which is organized by the Colombian Software Developers Association (Fedesoft in its Spanish acronym) with the support of PROCOLOMBIA and the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications. It will be held at the same time as Colombia 3.0, the the most important meeting of the digital content sector in the country.

Colombia 3.0

For the latter event, PROCOLOMBIA called on 17 entrepreneurs from the United States, Canada, Finland and the United Kingdom to participate in several academic and social events in order for them to get to know the Colombian companies of the sector for future business and to give them advice on international markets.

They will attend an event called Colombian Coffee and Videogames on September 3 at Cero Galeria. PROCOLOMBIA will give a presentation on the industry during the even, in which they can interact with 18 Colombian companies.
