Ecuador has the largest number of buyers at the Book Fair Business Rounds

A total of 25 buyers from the neighboring country will participate in the event. This is the third national publishing sector export destination with opportunities in books, school and university text books.

Ecuador, the guest of honor at the 2011 Edition of the Colombian International Book Fair, is the country with the most international buyers at the III Business Rounds organized by PROCOLOMBIA, the Book Chamber of Commerce and Corferias.

The neighboring country's delegation is made up of 25 buyers, equivalent to 21% of the 132 buyers who will have appointments with Colombian exporters, followed by Mexico and Costa Rica with 15 and 10 percent respectively. Last year was the year with the most opportunities created at the 2010 Business Rounds with almost US$6 million in business expectations.

The III Business Rounds are taking place on the second floor of Pavilion 6 at Corferias.

According to a report by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, and based on DANE figures, Ecuador is the third destination for Colombian exports in the publishing sector, after the United States and Mexico. Sales to that country increased in 2010 to US$10.5 million, while in 2009 they reached US$8.9 million, i.e. a 20% increase.

Colombian exporters have business opportunities in Ecuador in books, school and university text books, which are preferred in the neighboring country thanks to their quality, shipping costs, language and availability.

In the first two months of 2011 alone, according to the report issued by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism and DANE figures, the sector&rsquo s exports to Ecuador increased by 106 percent. This growth has made several Colombian companies begin to establish their own sales infrastructures in order to optimize costs.
