Colombian Fruit Steals the Show at Fitur 2013

Entrepreneurs who come to the Colombian stand can taste recipes with fruit such as maracuya, more commonly known as passion fruit, tamarillo, mango, pineapple and lulo fruit. There will also be samples of bocadillos (guava jelly treats), lemonade and coconut water.

Brought directly from San Basilio de Palenque, a town in the Department of Bolivar located in the vicinity of the historic city of Cartagena in the northern region of the country, a beautiful Afro-descendant woman dressed in radiant colors and the smell of fruit, will bring Colombia's exhibition in Fitur to life.

Our emblematic "Palenquera" will offer visitors the exotic flavors of some of the most representative fruits of Colombia and teach them that not only can it be used to decorate dishes, but it can also be enjoyed in healthy recipes such as smoothies, sorbets, juices, desserts, and even eaten by itself.

The tasting stand, as this initiative has been called, will be at the exhibition from January 30 to February 3, and it aims to provide foreigners with a real, close-up experience of Colombia through fruit tastings, pulp-based beverages and typical recipes of Colombian culture, such as the salpicon (fruit cocktail) drink and fruit salads.

"Colombia has great potential in Europe given the significant demand for exotic fruit. Colombian products are attractive because of their diversity, flavors and properties we have so many fruits to offer that you can have two different fruit juices every day for a month without having the same one twice," said the President of PROCOLOMBIA, Maria Claudia Lacouture.

Fruits like maracuya, more commonly known as passion fruit, tamarillo, mango, lulo fruit and pineapple, will be the main protagonists during the exhibition they will be accompanied by other Colombian delicacies such as bocadillos (guava jelly treats), limeade and coconut water, as well as the essential Colombian coffee offered directly by Juan Valdez during the first few days of the fair.

PROCOLOMBIA has determined that Colombia has opportunities for exotic fruits in countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, Estonia, Portugal, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, Austria and Slovakia.
