Colombian Company will manufacture buses for Panama City’s Metrobus

The purchase order comprises 1,200 vehicles to be produced at a plant in Cota, Cundinamarca, which are scheduled to roll in the neighboring country’s capital city within the next few months.

Bus bodywork manufacturer Superpolo S.A. will supply 1,200 of these vehicles for the Panama City mass transportation system, Metrobus the bid was won by the consortium integrated by Colombian group Fanalca S.A. and the Panamanian Felgate Enterprises.

The company, supported by PROCOLOMBIA, will produce low-floor Volvo buses which will begin to roll on Panama&lsquo s streets during the next few months 300 vehicles were already shipped to the neighboring country.

Thanks to Superpolo S.A.&rsquo s exports, with its plant located in the outskirts of Bogota, the number of employees working for the company has increased.  In December they had 564 employees to produce seven vehicles a day, and to date they have 1,450 workers manufacturing 25, that is, in three month&rsquo s time they will have created 886 new jobs.
They are currently exporting to Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, Surinam and Haiti.
