Colombian companies to keep showing their Best to the World

Colombia does not miss any chance to let the world know why its strategic location, top- notch technology and taylor-made production make it the perfect business partner when it comes to textile and apparel. Information forums and exploratory trips are coming soon.

After a busy couple of months in which the Colombian textile and apparel industry participated in different trade shows and events, including the very successful Magic, Colombian companies continue to work hard to show the world what they are made of. Colombian textiles will have a strategic presence in two important upcoming events: the WWD Global Sourcing event in New York City in October and the USFIA&rsquo s Textile and Apparel Importer Trade and Transportation Conference in November.

Colombia&rsquo s apparel industry is always looking for new platforms to let the North American market know that its strategic location, top-notch technology and taylor-made production make it the perfect business partner. Efforts made these past few years have certainly paid off and the number of consumers wearing Colombian-made apparel in North America is growing every day. Textile and apparel industry in Colombia grew from US$ 678.6 million in 2012, to US$ 731.6 million in 2014, which is a growth of 5.1%.

The WWD Global Sourcing Forum will take place in New York City on October 9. In this short but important event, Colombia wants to leave a long lasting impression among the attendees. Sylvia Reyes, Apparel & Textile USA Director at PROCOLOMBIA, has been invited as one of the main speakers for this event. Reyes will address the key questions facing the textile global industry, such as how to integrate digital one-to-one marketing into the supply chain, how to build local flexibility into a global strategy and how to create a socially responsible culture &ndash all key factors needed to adapt and be successful in today&rsquo s marketplace.

Another event in which Colombia will have a chance to introduce the country&rsquo s great competitive advantages to international buyers is the USFIA&rsquo s Textile and Apparel Importer Trade and Transportation Conference. It will take place in November. Business managers, directors, vice presidents, CEOs, COOs and CFOs from the industry will be gathering at this conference.
Before the end of the year, PROCOLOMBIA will also be hosting two exploratory missions to Colombia meant to connect potential North American buyers with uniform and outdoor apparel manufacturers. Visitors will be able to see for themselves why the country has become such an important hub for the sourcing industry in the western hemisphere.

In January 2015, Colombia will start the year on a high note as it once again host its highly regarded textiles event, Colombiatex, in Medellin. With about 1,750 international buyers attending from 28 different countries, Colombiatex remains the largest business platform for fashion in all of Latin America.

The textile and apparel industry in Colombia includes more than 30,000 companies. In 2013, Colombian exporters supplied apparel to customers in 129 countries. PROCOLOMBIA is a key partner of Colombian manufacturers, helping the apparel and fashion industries go global.
