Colombia is 'on the tip of everyone's tongue' during Anuga 2011 in Germany

A mission of 29 Colombian companies will participate in Anuga 2011 in Germany, the most important food and beverage sector international fair in the world, expecting around 3,500 exhibitors and nearly 150,000 specialized visitors.

Dehydrated and frozen fruits and vegetables, peanuts, tea, coffee, almoj&aacute banas (corn cakes), stevia, panela (organic brown sugar paste), sugar and beef are among the Colombian products that about 150,000 specialized visitors to Anuga 2011 will sample in the Colombian exhibition stands.

This fair, which will take place from October 8th to 12th in Cologne, Germany, is the world&#39 s largest trade fair of the food and beverage sector, with opportunities to identify new markets and trends, as well as to make business contacts and close deals.

The Colombian participation, supported by PROCOLOMBIA, is made up of nine companies on an exploratory mission, and another 20 as exhibitors spread across the stands of frozen foods, meats, fine foods and hot drinks and bakery.

&quot The idea is to introduce brown sugar paste (panela) as a differentiated product, a natural sweetener and as a food,&quot said Freddy Ramirez, General Manager of Do&ntilde a Panela Limited, a company that conducted sample tastings and offered canelazo sugar water during its participation at Biofach 2011, an experience that will be repeated during Anuga.

Other participants have even taken a recipe book to show the Europeans. &quot We have over 90 recipes with innovative ideas for using corn. For example, a chocolate volcano for dessert, soups, sauces, different breads and puddings. The idea is for them to see that they can make recipes from their countries using our product,&quot explained Catalina Moncada from Alimentos Polar Colombia.

Through their products and sample tastings, these companies will aim to put &#39 Colombia at the tip of everyone&#39 s tongue&#39 , which is the name given to the strategy that the country will take to the Fair.

PROCOLOMBIA&#39 s assistance is part of the Support Plan led for the exporters affected by the revaluation, ATPDEA and the heavy rainfall season, which includes about 50 activities around the world and 1,200 beneficiaries as of December 31, 2011.
