Buyers from 21 countries will participate during the Expoconstruccion y Expodiseño Business Matchmaking Forum

They will do business with 300 Colombian exhibitors who will be attending the fair, to take place at Corferias.

The Expoconstruccion y Expodiseñ o Business Matchmaking Forum, to take place between May 25th and 26th, will host 160 international buyers with 300 Colombian exporters seeking to enhance their presence in the foreign markets.

The Business Matchmaking Forum, organized by PROCOLOMBIA, Corferias, and the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, will take place at Corferias during Expoconstrucció n y Exposidseñ o 2011, one of the most important specialized construction fairs in Latin America and the Caribbean, as it is a unique platform intended to generate business and qualified contacts between exhibitors, buyers and visitors.

The latest trends and offerings around automation, security and technology for construction and design will be seen during the encounter. Visitors will also enjoy finishes like linings, plumbing, bathroom and kitchen porcelain, wood, doors, ironwork and windows office systems and equipment, lighting control, commercial architecture, graphic design, industrial design construction, materials and consumables, construction systems and as far as infrastructure, machinery and transportation.
International buyers, invited by PROCOLOMBIA, will be visiting from Ecuador, the United States, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Netherlands Antilles, Honduras, Aruba, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, Barbados, El Salvador and Dominica.

The success of this reunion has been widely acknowledged by Colombian exporters. " This fair creates all sorts of expectations, given its importance. In our case, we are looking to strengthen relations with Brazil, the United States, Mexico and Chile. We will also be looking for clients interested in galvanized and painted sheets, our most innovative product&rdquo , explained Rafael Rozo, exports director at ACESCO, a Colombian cold-rolled sheet steel and galvanized steel, zinc rippled roof and metal architecture producer.

On the other hand, Santiago Bohorquez, Marketing Manager at Corpacero S.A., a galvanized metal company, assures its intention to extend its activity in Central America. " As every year we've visited, we are looking to generate more business and find more clients. On this occasion we are targeting the Northern Triangle countries" , he said.

Colombia becomes stronger in construction materials

Construction materials exports reached US$258 million in 2010, according to the figures by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism. The total amount of manufactures was US$6,400 million last year.

The four most exported products in the country are: Ceramics, clay and stone (47,7%), plastics and rubber (17,4%), cement (8,5%), and aluminum (8,5%).

Venezuela and the United States were leaders in January and October 2010. However, countries like Panama, Ecuador and Peru have shown further growth.
