Business expectations for $51.5 million were raised by the Macro Business Matchmaking Forum in Mexico

International buyers reported business opportunities in the sectors of manufacturing, agribusiness, and garments in about 2,500 business appointments.

Business expectations for US$51.5 million raised during the Macro Business Matchmaking Forum Mexico - Northern Triangle, which ended on Thursday in Cancun with the participation of 210 exporting companies and 164 international buyers.

" We are quite satisfied. We exceeded the business expectations set for this matchmaking forum. After having performed over 2,500 business meetings, we have expectations for US$51,584,000 and sales during the event for $9.8 million," said Ricardo Vallejo, Vice President of Exports for PROCOLOMBIA Colombia.

According to the partial balance from the event, the countries that generated more business expectations for Colombian exporters were Mexico with US$48.3 million, followed by Guatemala with US$2.5 million and Honduras with US$755 thousand.

By sector, cosmetic products created business expectations for US$11 million, construction materials US$7 million and hotel equipment for US$4.2 million.

The agribusiness sector reported expectations for US$18 million, confections represented US$9.2 million and oils US$3.5 million these were the products that raised the most interest.

The garments sector raised business expectations for US$7 million. The most popular products were sportswear for US$3.6 million, children' s clothing with US$1.2 million and beach wear and jeans with one million dollars respectively.

Satisfied buyers

Ludovic Delot, representing Mexico' s Liverpool stores and buyer of kitchen items and appliances, expressed his satisfaction with the quality of Colombian products.

" I find this business format very interesting very rarely do we turn around to see the opportunities in America, we generally look towards the United States, Europe or the East, and this is a great opportunity. I have seen some very interesting, innovative and competitive products," he said.

Meanwhile, Eduardo Franky of TREO, a pharmaceutical company, said he had appointments with 15 Colombian exporters in which " the offer has been surprisingly very positive in the area of dermo-cosmetics, perfumes, makeup, with high quality products that would enter the Mexican market very easily."

Alvaro Garza, Cocimax representative, a company that sells everything related to kitchens, said he had " important approaches to some factories we are now talking about prices and terms, but everything I' ve found so far in this business matchmaking forum looks very promising," he said.

While buyers and exporters developed business meetings, Avianca, Taca disclosed for its assistants the offering air services for entrepreneurs from Mexico and the Northern Triangle to connect with Colombia and other worldwide destinations.

The Macro Business Matchmaking Forum is part of the Plan led by PROCOLOMBIA to support exporters affected by the suspension of ATPDEA, revaluation and the heavy rainfall season, as well as the plan to harness the Free Trade Agreements signed by Colombia.
