Andean Community Countries Will Participate in Australia's Fine Food Fair

The Andean Community countries are making their final preparations to participate jointly in the Fine Food fair to be held in Sydney, Australia, September 9-12.

At this fair, considered the largest in Australia for food, drink and supermarket equipment, the Andean Community will have a pavilion where Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru can exhibit samples of products that each country spotlights.

Thus far, each of the countries has already identified and prioritized which products will be exhibited at the fair. Bolivia will take samples of Real quinoa and its derivatives, Brazil nuts, chia and its derivatives, high-altitude coffees and wines, cocoa and its derivatives, Rose salt of Uyuni, fruit preserves and their derivatives and natural proteins. Colombia will promote candy products (chewing gum, lollipops, sweets), cereal bars, special and processed coffees, and sugar cubes (organic and turbinated).

Meanwhile, Ecuador will exhibit canned tuna, shrimp, chocolate, coffee, alcoholic beverages, quinoa, and processed foods (snacks, sauces and marmalades). Peru will also focus on quinoa (organic and conventional), processed products (canned piquillo pepper, asparagus and artichokes), organic green coffee, organic cocoa, chocolates and pisco (grape brandy).

The presentation and exhibition of the products at the fair will be the task of the Andean Community' s Secretary General' s office together with Andean countries' export promotion agencies such as Promueve Bolivia, PROCOLOMBIA, ProEcuador and PromPeru. These agencies met August 15 in the Bolivian capital of La Paz, and Thursday 22 in a teleconference to prepare for the event. A meeting is planned for the end of September to evaluate the results of the fair.

The joint participation of the Andean Community countries in the fair in Australia is part of promotional activities set by the Andean Committee of Export Promotion Authorities. Its goal is to strengthen the presence of the Andean Community in new markets where there is a great potential for Andean products. Therefore, they also scheduled joint participation November 2013 in the International Food and Hotel fair in Shanghai, China, which they attended in 2012.

The Fine Food Australia fair is expected to attract over 1,000 local exhibitors from over 27 countries and 25,000 professionals from the food sector.
