Equipment, products, services, raw materials and technology for hospitals, clinics, laboratories, medical and dentistry consultation offices are part of the Colombian offer in Meditech 2012, this is the third edition of this fair which will have the participation of international entrepreneurs.
The exhibit, organized by the Colombian Association of Hospitals and Clinics, is one of the most important for the health sector in Latin America. Beginning on Tuesday May 8 and ending on September 11 in Corferias with the participation of representatives from hospitals and clinics, doctors, nurses, dentists and professional decision-makers.
These international buyers invited by PROCOLOMBIA come from the United States, Mexico, Peru, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Costa Rica and Curaza, and they will get to know the Colombian export offer in the sector.
They represent different institutions and groups such as EMI America, Sohim, Quimica Suiza, LCD Systems, Carm Grupo Farmacéutico, Hospital Metropolitano, Hospital de Clínicas Pichincha, Disfarmed, Simed, Yire, Chupis and Best Caribbean Brands.
Exports are growing
According to information from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, and data from Dane Colombian exports of medical instruments and equipment in 2011 totaled USD$ 48.1 million, while in 2010 they reached USD$ 41 million.
The main destinations were Brazil with sales of USD$11.4 million, followed by the U.S. (USD$ 6.3 million), Ecuador (USD$ 6.1 million) and Peru (USD$ 4.1 million).
As for the products, those most exported during 2011 were plastic syringes, artificial teeth, catheters, cannulae and similar instruments, and dental chairs and parts.
