The outbreak of COVID-19, also known as novel coronavirus, is impacting almost all industries and sectors worldwide. The services industry is not an exception, the use of mobile internet apps experienced a strong increase, also the productivity/office category due to more people working from home and overall restrictions for people to stay at home. As companies worldwide have started moving workers to remote work setups, online interest in teleworking policies and setups has grown exponentially since February 2020.

More and more startups from all sectors and industries are offering their help and expertise to combat the coronavirus pandemic. Major digital opportunities that include health investment categories are telemedicine, clinical decision support, mobile wireless, and booking. Also, the worldwide market for 3D printing products and services is anticipated to increase.

 In the current context, the digital transformation in Colombia is becoming one of the main driving forces behind the renewal of the world economy. For this reason the Government's strategy towards two main components is becoming more relevant than ever: ICT for the State, aims to improve the functioning of public entities and their relationship with other public entities, through the use of ICT; and ICT for society, whose objective is to strengthen society and its relationship with the State in a reliable environment that allows the use of public data, collaboration in the development of products and services of public value, the joint design of services, policies and standards, and the identification of solutions to problems of common interest.

Some of the actual measures by the National Government that aimed to ensure the provision of communication services include the Decree 464 that declares the telecommunications and postal services as essentials. Consequently, operations will not be suspended, and maintenance and operation of the networks will be guaranteed, also the decree gives authorization to prioritize access through the Internet to contents and applications of health services, emergency care, official, labor and educational information between others.

Also, the Decree 538 by which measures are adopted in the health sector, to contain and mitigate the pandemic and seek to guarantee the provision of health services, announced that during the term of the health emergency and in order to facilitate access to health services, service providers must implement accessible digital platforms with basic audio and video standards.
