Colombia’s National Institute for Export and Fashion Hosts 22nd Colombiamoda

Organized by the National Institute for Export and Fashion (Inexmoda), Colombiamoda will take place July 26-28, 2011, in Medellin, Colombia’s textile hub, during Colombia’s Fashion Week. Designers, investors, consumers and visitors will meet at this annual event that serves as a great setting for business opportunities thanks to the participation of top brands and designers, international guests, and the best of Colombian talent in the industry.

This year’s event will focus on the key global trends that are actively shaping fashion, including innovations in fabric and cutting-edge technology. In addition to previous years’ successful events, this year brings a new pavilion that gives buyers the opportunity to explore sourcing and full package possibilities in Colombia. The High-End Pavilion, featured by Vogue magazine and Marie Claire, is back this year, showcasing more than 16 companies. At this pavilion, national designers can expose their talent and creations to new consumers and reach foreign markets.

Medellin is the ideal host of Colombiamoda because it is Colombia’s textile hub and main exporter of knit and woven textiles, with more than 53% of the total finished woven and knitted products going to the United States, Venezuela, Ecuador, Mexico, Costa Rica and the European Union. Big name brands, such as Diesel, Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY, Hanes, Gymboree, Levis, Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, Liz Clairborne, and Oscar de la Renta, are manufacturing in Medellin.
